speaks on
Tissue-based head injury risk prediction with FE models
Debasis Sahoo received his Master degree in Mechanical Equipment Design from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and joined the Biomechanics team of Prof Rémy Willinger at Strasbourg University to obtain his PhD in 2013 with a thesis on advanced tissue-based head injury risk prediction.
Numerical head models have on the one hand recently made a big step forward in terms of injury prediction capabilities by the establishment of axonal strain as a criterion for diffuse axonal injury (DAI). On the other hand, the application of such FE head models has received a push from the inclusion of the Strasbourg University Finite Element Head Model (SUFEHM) in the EURONCAP monitoring and integration of a SUFEHM version in X-Crash software as well as from the discussion of advanced kinematic criteria (BrIC).
The lecture will give insight into a state-of-the-art model and its capabilities in terms of risk prediction.
The scientific discussion may be continued after the event in the brewery
Paulaner Bräuhaus, Kapuzinerplatz 5, 80337 Muenchen.
